“What is very worrying is that since last year Metamorphosis has become the target of an organized attack on social networks, which consists of posting pictures in the form of obituaries and calls for violence. It has been going on for seven months. The Public Prosecutor’s Office has not reacted, and the campaign has continued and is still going on. Not all the people in the photos are journalists, who are not used to being put in public and accused like that,” said Goran Rizaov from Metamorphosis, at the CIVIL debate “Black Propaganda Against Civil Society“.
“There is no reaction yet, I hope that those calls for hate speech will not become a reality and that the institutions will react before that happens. The biggest reason we get these threats is our collaboration with Facebook, i.e. fact-checking. Why? Because it affects their range of disinformation. It is a deliberate attack, where in addition to journalists, other people are placed just to influence their work. It encourages us to work even harder and expose these disinformation narratives. Although I have a feeling that we are left alone, we do not have the support of the institutions, the public prosecutor’s office,” Rizaov said.
