“Over the first ten months of 2021, exports of companies operating in the zones reached EUR 2,482 billion, a 19-percent rise compared to the same period in 2020, eight percent more compared to 2019, and almost 24 percent higher than 2018.
The share of TIDZ in the country’s total exports amounts to almost 45 percent,” says the Authority. According to analyses, imports are also on the rise. “January-October imports stand at EUR 2,441 billion, a 43-percent increase compared to the same period in 2020, 15 percent rise compared to 2019 and 46-percent more than in 2018,” notes the Authority.
The number of employees in the zones remain stable and within the annual average. “Considering the stable upward trend of exports, it is expected that positive developments continue by the end of the year, thus reaching and even exceeding the EUR 3 billion threshold of annual exports, namely highest on record. In parallel, we are monitoring the risks involving global supply chains and will put forward measures to manage the effects, if necessary,” adds the Authority.
