As of Monday, rapid antigen testing is available at six sites in Skopje – clinics in Gjorche Petrov, Chair, Chento, Bit Pazar, Jane Sandanski and Mlin Balkan, says the Ministry of Health.
These tests detect the coronavirus not the antibodies. Results are available in 10-15 minutes. The family doctor schedules the testing using an algorithm in accordance with World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations, the Ministry of Health said in a press release.
If the rapid test is negative but symptoms suggest to COVID-19, then the family doctor can assess if a PCR test is also required.
The rapid tests will increase the COVID-19 testing capacities, towards recording positive cases, their timely treatment and isolation. The PCR testing capacity and rapid testing across the country is to be continually increased, reads the press release.
