The incident with the raped child and the avoiding of responsibility by the competent institutions is just another indicator that we have partially a same government as the one before, we are seeing partially a same product with a different package.
As a child without parents, I know what it is like to be unprotected, vulnerable and forgotten. And as someone who has voted for this political set, I regret that we do not have responsibility for such a case.
Specifically, the avoidance of responsibility and the denying of facts was one of the characteristics of the previous government, together with the apathy of the Roma politicians that we see even now, under this ruling set. Politicians who, like their predecessors, are more engaged in organizing balls and in their luxuries, instead of taking actions and initiatives that would improve the everyday lives of the most vulnerable category of citizens in Republic of Macedonia.
I do not know if Macedonia is the term I should use, because isn’t the change of the name and of the foreign policy more important than the internal politics. If they really are affected so much, if not to say, obsessed with the Euro-integration processes, then they should know that one of the Copenhagen criteria includes improvement of the situation of the minorities, among which are the Roma, which means that “life for everyone” should, not to say, has to, incorporate also the Roma, as an ethnic group in our country. If we want to be part of the big European family.
Denying and not taking responsibility for this unfortunate case is contrary to what we were promised, that the institutions would work in the interest of the citizens, regardless of their ethnicity. It is even mora sad that this is about a 13-year-old girl growing up without her parents, we have 22 juvenile girls, not to mention children without parents who are at risk of sexual abuse.
You do not have to be a lawyer to know that the Ministry of Interior has to investigate this case, having in consideration the criminogenic elements of the said case, this is not, and it should not be a matter of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. They should not confuse the public and they should take care of their responsibilities.
The Prime Minister has a moral and political responsibility to keep his promises and to bring life in this country, not in the literal, but in a legal and political sense. For there to be order and the rule of law in this country. If nothing else, for him not to ignore such cases. Especially not if he has undertaken to follow the path to EU. Such cases are not worthy for a country that is trying to be compatible with European and world standards.
Until then, Prime Minister, do return to the domestic scene, the path to EU is long, while the path to the next potential elections is short.
