The recently published information that the US has intelligence of Russia plotting an attack on Ukrainian troops on Russian territory or on Russian-speaking people in eastern Ukraine also casts a shadow on the games. After which, Russia would accuse Ukraine of genocide against the Russian population and Russian-speaking population. Then Russia would be called upon for help and would have an excuse for an attack on Ukraine. The whole staged event would be showed in a video that would be broadcast on television and on the social networks, which would stimulate an attack on Ukraine.
The entire plan has been allegedly devised by the Russian intelligence service, and the recorded video would also spread on the social networks. The recordings need to be precise and convincing, with many staged dead and injured bodies, explosions, destroyed locations, showing also some Ukrainian military equipment on Russian territory, presenting scenes of a panicking and desperate population on the recordings that seeks help from Russia.
Ned Price, State Department Spokesperson, at a press conference said that they have irrefutable evidence of this scenario, but will not present them so as to protect the US source.
The production of this propaganda video is one of a number of options that the Russian government is developing as a fake pretext to initiate and potentially justify military aggression against Ukraine, stated Price.
As New York Times reported, British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said that the intelligence confirms this shocking evidence of Russia’s unprovoked aggression against Ukraine.
“The U.K. and our allies will continue to expose Russian subterfuge and propaganda and call it out for what it is,” – stated Truss.
Kremlin’s spokesman, Dmitri S. Peskov, dismissed these allegations, explaining that this is not the first time for such reports to be made.
“Similar things have been claimed before. But nothing ever came of them”, said Peskov.
