President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that armaments from the recently approved U.S. defense aid package are already being delivered to Ukraine. He made this statement during a joint briefing with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Kyiv, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
Zelensky mentioned that “something has already started to arrive,” but he did not provide specific details. He noted, however, that the current aid is insufficient to fully equip the Ukrainian army and support the necessary number of brigades. This highlights the ongoing need for additional support to bolster Ukraine’s military capabilities.
During the meeting, President Zelensky and NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg discussed countering Russian aggression, enhancing cooperation between Ukraine and NATO, and strengthening unity among allied forces.
President Zelensky expressed concern about Russian military actions and emphasized the urgent need for deliveries of critical equipment, including 155-caliber artillery, long-range weapons, and air defense systems such as Patriot systems, to counter Russian threats effectively.
Regarding Ukraine’s aspiration to join NATO, Zelensky emphasized the importance of the upcoming NATO Summit in Washington in July. He highlighted that the decision on Ukraine’s potential membership would be a crucial moment for the Alliance’s strength and unity.
Zelensky expressed gratitude to the leaders of NATO countries who support Ukraine’s future membership and stressed that Ukraine’s inclusion in NATO is justified by its strength, defense of common values, and significance for the Euro-Atlantic community.
