The topic regarding Nikola Gruevski’s escape and his approved political asylum in Hungary, still remains the center of attention in all media.
Hence, the latest news in this regard is the statement of the Minister of Justice, Renata Deskoska, who said that the Government of Macedonia will submit a request for revocation of the decision for Gruevski’s asylum.
“This procedure that has been implemented until now in Hungary, is a procedure that we expected and knew that first there would be a decision on the asylum procedure, and then the matter of extradition would be reviewed. The request for extradition is comprehensively explained, with all arguments and if it will be decided based on legal procedures, then it should be accepted. Until now, we have not had problems with Hungary in terms of extradition in any case. Hungary has never raised any issue neither in terms of the conditions in the prisons, nor in terms of the judiciary’s work, for the purpose of rejecting an extradition. This is the first extradition we are requesting, but I hope it will not be the first to be rejected”, said Deskoska.
No less attention was caused by the arrest of the former director of UBK (Administration for Security and Counterintelligence), Saso Mijalkov, who yesterday was detained in the prison in Shuto Orizari, at the request of the Special Prosecutor’s Office. Basic Court – Skopje 1 ordered a 30-day detention measure.
The everyday “bickering” continues between the biggest Macedonian parties, SDSM and VMRO-DPMNE, and this time, instead of solving the problem with the air pollution, they decided to blame each other for it.
“The most irresponsible and megalomaniacal budget in the history of Republic of Macedonia, anticipates more money for luxurious automobiles and furniture than for improving the quality of the air”, say VMRO-DPMNE, while SDSM reply – the hypocrisy of VMRO-DPMNE, a party that is a symbol of dissipation, crime and corruption, has no boundaries. It ignored the problem with air pollution for 11 years, while it spent the citizens’’ money on luxury, fake baroque, expensive vehicles and criminal tenders through which greenery was destroyed and the environment was endangered.
From the opposition they add that the government that was promising to solve the problem with the air pollution, has not taken a single measure in more than two years in the direction of improving the quality of the air.
“The air pollution is already filling up the hospitals, whereas the children, pregnant women, people over the age of 65 and the chronically ill are affected the most. The high level of cancerous PM 10 is causing big problems with the cardiovascular and respiratory organs. Zoran Zaev and Petre Silegov lied to the citizens. They promised clean air immediately, and two years have passed and nothing has been done. Instead of more money for the environment, the government with the budget for 2019 will spend 7 million euros on luxury automobiles and furniture”, is said from VMRO-DPMNE.
A while ago, the Commission for Protection Against Discrimination, determined discrimination by the Basic Court Skopje 1 and Judge Dobrila Kacarska by disregarding the right to a fair procedure for the convicted person to two years in prison, Nikola Gruevski, for the case “Tank”.
Given the fact that the Commission did not explain the discriminatory basis, the Anti-Discrimination Network came out with a reaction that such a decision entirely questions the credibility of this institution’s mandate, which gave priority to Gruevski’s complaint before the other complaints, for which the legal deadline of three months has long expired.
Determining discrimination in the case of the former prime minister is just another indicator of the unprofessionalism and partiality of the Commission, whose members are apparently
abusing their authority for determining discrimination towards their politically like-minded people, even in cases where there is obviously no discrimination.
