Flaka Polozhani, special advisor for media and broadcasting at MISA at the panel discussion “Pandemic and Infodemic” organized by CIVIL said that citizens in situations such as the pandemic with KOVID-19 are more sensitive to misinformation.
“In the past, we faced infodemia for fake news with the 5G network, they were strangely connected to the virus and did not provide space for people to be protected from that fake news and to be properly informed. In the previous period, MISA has realized several activities with which we wanted to raise awareness among citizens, they are the ones who most often share them, the media create them most often, “said Polozani.
She added that the campaign was to help citizens differ what they share.
“The first steps were taken, but in the next part as a program of the Government it is planned to create a strategy against fake news, I do not know how sufficient a mechanism is and I do not know what results it will give in practice. But I think it is a good initial step that can create a framework for how to behave in the coming period and as I mentioned looking at all this from a human rights perspective. I hope that we will be able to contribute in this area, the spread of news, especially on the platforms is very fast, but I think that there is room and together with the non-governmental sector to concretize that agenda within a strategy. It should be an inclusive process where all stakeholders in the field will be,” Polozani added.
