Police on Tuesday searched facilities owned by former prime minister Nikola Gruevski and former transport minister Mile Janakieski, reports Sloboden Pechat daily.

The prosecution’s office says that after warrants were issued, a facility in Prilep owned by Janakieski, and Gruevski’s apartments in Skopje were searched earlier today in connection to a case commonly referred to as “Plots in Vodno”.

“The public prosecution for organized crime and corruption continues to take actions so as to fully investigate the case,” it says in a press release confirming the media reports.

Businessman Jordan Kamchev, suspected of money laundering, was put in detention two weeks ago due to his alleged involvement.

According to the investigation into the illegal purchase of plots in Vodno, Gruevski was aided by his cousin, ex-secret police chief Sasho Mijalkov, and Kamchev in money laundering.

Gruevski fled to Hungary two and a half years ago, where he was awarded political asylum.
