Prime Minister Zoran Zaev told reporters on Thursday that the health aspect should take priority over the economic one when deciding whether to reopen borders, with or without presentation of PCR test results.
“Health and economic aspects are equally important, but citizens’ health should always take priority. Economy experts often say that the economy takes a hit during increased health risk,” Zaev said during a visit to a Karposh municipality-based elementary school on the first day of the school year.
He noted that Health Minister Venko Filipche has informed cabinet members of discussions to reopen borders at regional level.
“The Minister of Health will finalize consultations with regional counterparts and the Commission for Infectious DIseases will issue a final recommendation whether borders should reopen, with or without presentation of PCR test results,” PM Zaev told reporters.
