Prime Minister Zoran Zaev received his first Covid-19 vaccine dose from the Chinese manufacturer Sinopharm at the Skopje mass vaccination site in the Boris Trajkovski Sports Arena. He said he felt great and was going straight back to his work duties in the afternoon.
Zaev noted he received the vaccine available at his appointment date.
Stressing the importance of taking part in the mass vaccination program, he encouraged citizens who have not applied for vaccination via the vakcinacija.mk website to apply as soon as possible to protect themselves and others against the coronavirus in the only effective way.
“The vaccines are safe and have been tested,” Zaev said. “The sooner the immunization process is completed the sooner the fight against this invisible enemy, the Covid-19 pandemic, will end.”
Zaev added that the vaccine doses that had already arrived in the country, together with the quantities expected to arrive soon, should be enough to vaccinate a percentage of the population high enough to reach herd immunity over the summer.
Vaccination sites are open in Bitola, Ohrid, Shtip, Kavadarci, Tetovo and Kumanovo, Zaev said, announcing the opening of new vaccination sites in Veles and Prilep.
In addition to getting vaccinated, citizens should continue following public health protection guidelines until epidemiologists make other recommendations, Zaev pointed out.
