Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said Wednesday it was possible the Pfizer vaccines to arrive from Serbia tomorrow with the Sinopharm shots from China expected in the country on Feb. 15/16.

He said that more details about the possible arrival of vaccines from Serbia would be known later in the day. “It is yet to be confirmed,” Zaev told a news conference falling short to provide any more details.

As for the Chinese vaccines, the PM added, they are expected to arrive on February 15-16 and I expect today the country to pay for the vaccines before planning the packaging and transportation from China of the 200,000 vaccines to Skopje.

“We are starting to count the days of the rollout,” Zaev said.

“What is more important is that the vaccination system is fully prepared,” the PM noted.

According to the Pfizer contract, 5,850 doses should be delivered in the second half of February, Zaev said

“I urge everyone to get the vaccine in order to be able to achieve population immunity because it affects not only public health, but also economic aspects, normal life, social life, etc,” he concluded.

Earlier in the day, MIA’s Belgrade correspondent reported that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and PM Zoran Zaev tomorrow will attend a handover ceremony involving a Serbian donation of COVID-19 vaccines. The event should take place at Tabanovce border crossing.
