Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski, Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski and State Roads public enterprise director Ejup Rustemi inspected Wednesday construction works on the 24.5km-long Rankovce-Kriva Palanka express road, worth EUR 62,5 million, as part of the commitment expressed at the meetings with Bulgarian counterpart Kiril Petkov over intensive activities in the infrastructure field.
“Petkov and I discussed in length on the importance of Corridor VIII and road infrastructure, which largely depends on institutions and contractors. We agreed that Corridor VIII is again put high on the list of priorities, tackled by the joint working group focused on infrastructure,” said PM Kovachevski during the visit.
The PM encouraged a high intensity in the construction of the express road, adding that his Bulgarian counterpart also pledged to inspect developments in the construction works of the road section leading to Klepalo border crossing near Berovo, the Government said in a press release.
“North Macedonia’s strategic commitment is the Corridor VIII construction and modernization as part of the pan-European corridors linking the continent’s east and west, thus enhancing the country’s economic potential,” said Minister Bochvarski.
He expressed satisfaction from the tempo of over 70 percent of the road already completed, with construction works set to intensify in the coming period. Director Rustemi said the section would shorten the time required for travel between Kumanovo and Kriva Palanka, reads the press release.
