Relying on reports of eyewitnesses, CIVIL Media yesterday published a text on the severe physical attack on Saturday carried out by Skopje businessman Spiro Corogunov over Branko Petrovski. The consequences of this attack are severe. Two fractures were initially determined, on the upper jaw and the nose, but today following a medical check-up another serious fracture was determined on the head.
The attacker is still free. Although the police “visited” the attacker immediately after the incident, he had “obligations”, more specifically, he was invited to a wedding celebration, where he ended up, several hours after having beaten him.
This can also be determined from the photo posted on the social networks, from which it can be seen that the attacker is in a good mood at a wedding. The victim’s son commented on the profile with the words: “Enjoy Director. The man you beat up today is stable, but held in the hospital with severe injuries. But let me not ruin the wedding. Or perhaps you are already at an after. Enjoy and sleep peacefully tonight!”.
Even though there was more than an obvious need for Petrovski, the victim of the incident, to be hospitalized, on Saturday he was not hospitalized because there were no available rooms neither in the City Hospital nor the State Clinical Center, though his nose was bleeding heavily and he could not fall asleep from the pain and from suffocating in his own blood. However, today, after his conditioned worsened even more, he has finally been hospitalized in the Clinic of Neurosurgery.
The newspaper Sloboden Pecat (Free Press) yesterday published: “The police reported that yesterday at 3.45 pm in the police station in Center, B.P (56) from Skopje reported that at 1.15 pm he had been physically attacked by S.C in front of the exchange office on Vasil Glavinov Street, where he was working, of which he received serious injuries. From the MOI they inform that police investigators spoke with S.C and that appropriate charges will be brought against him after fully documenting the case”. This is an unusual reaction of the authorities, especially since it concerns a physical attack with severe injuries.
Corogunov is the owner of hotels “Alexandar Square” and “Alexandar 2” in the center of Skopje, the construction firm “Karaorman” and several other businesses. Right next to Corogunov’s hotel “Alexandar 2” is Petrovski’s café “Garson”, known for years as a favourite gathering spot of young artists, journalists and citizen activists. Corogunov attacked Petrovski right next to hotel “Alexandar 2”, on Saturday at 1.00 pm, after having blocked his way and requesting Petrovski to remove the sign of his exchange office placed there 19 years ago.
Corogunov attacked him with punches, knocked him to the ground and continued hitting him strongly in the area of the face and head. Petrovski had no chance of defending himself. He recently had successfully battled cancer. Because of the chemotherapy and the medications he is still receiving, he was physically unable to defend himself from the fierce attack. According to eyewitnesses, right after the attack, Corogunov had told him that he was sorry he had not killed him.
