President Stevo Pendarovski met Monday with Deputy PM for the fight against corruption and crime, sustainable development and human resources Ljupcho Nikolovski, who briefed him on measures within the Anti-Corruption Plan adopted by the Government.
Pendarovski welcomed the measures and activities and voiced hopes that they will enable effective prevention and fight against corruption, President’s Office said in a press release.
“Combating crime and corruption is very important in the EU integration process, in building the rule of law and in gaining the citizens’ trust in the institutions. Ensuring transparency, appropriate legal solutions and sanctions and contribution from all institutions are necessary to achieve results in this process,” Pendarovski said.
In this regard, press release stated, Pendarovski is ready to adequately support the measures of the new Anti-Corruption Plan.
Along with fundamental institutional changes, according to Pendarovski important segment in combating corruption is to raise public awareness and encourage citizens to report cases of corruption, President’s Office said in a press release.
