The President of the Assembly Talat Xhaferi at today’s press briefing informed that the session for parliamentary questions scheduled for today, will not be held.
Xhaferi pointed out that today’s session will confirm the resignation of Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, after which the deadlines for further actions to be taken to elect a new government will run.
He assessed that it is inexpedient to hold parliamentary questions, because the Government is resigning and this is an established practice from the past.
The MP of VMRO-DPMNE, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova yesterday in a statement before the Parliament said that the parliamentary group of the largest opposition does not give up the constitutional right to parliamentary questions.
– I want to point out a problem that I think is current. Article 93, paragraph 5, clearly states that the Government to which a vote of no confidence has been taken, which has resigned or the mandate has been terminated due to the dissolution of the Assembly, remains in office until the election of a new Government. In law there is the institute “Government in Resignation”, which has a responsibility. Now I am pointing out a strange phenomenon, and that is that since June 24 we have not had parliamentary questions, which means that we could not exercise control over the name of the citizens, said Siljanovska-Davkova.
She pointed out that the provision in the Rules of Procedure says that parliamentary questions are asked on the last Thursday of the month, and before scheduling they are subject to discussion between the coordinators of the political parties and the President of the Assembly.
Siljanovska-Davkova added that the coordinator of VMRO-DPMNE was informed that they agreed with the President of the Assembly to hold a session on parliamentary issues today.
Otherwise, in addition to the 55th parliamentary session with the agenda of asking parliamentary questions, extensions of five other parliamentary sessions are scheduled.
