The Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia has formed a Coordination Body for the implementation of the referendum at the state level on September 30, and for conducting a public campaign.
This is one of the conclusions adopted at today’s Coordinative Meeting of the President of the Parliament Talat Xhaferi with the first people of the parliamentary groups, which was attended by the Vice Presidents of the Parliament and a representative of the Government. Xhaferi will manage the Coordination Body, and its members will be comprised of the vice presidents and coordinators of the parliamentary groups.
The Parliament, as they have informed, will give all MPs who are “for”, “against” or for “boycotting” the referendum an opportunity, proportionally according to what they have declared, to be represented and to be be able to express their views and arguments before the public.
Judge Ognen Stavrev, due to exhaustion of the threatened witness, interrupted his hearing today by the SPO and the defense for the case “Monster”, and scheduled the continuation for Friday, when he will continue to testify. The trial for the murder of five men near the Smilkovsko Lake on April 12, 2012, continued today after a pause of almost a month and a half.
Judge Dobrila Kacarska rejected the request of the defense of the defendants for the events in the Parliament of April 27, for postponing the trial and announced that the hearing would continue after the working hours of the court.
At the beginning of the main hearing, the lawyers requested insight into the evidence of the Public Prosecution, with the explanation that they hadn’t received all the evidence materials. The lawyers consider that part of that evidence could be crucial for the procedure.
All of the 33 accused attend today’s first hearing for the events in the Parliament of Republic of Macedonia on April 27 last year. They are held responsible for “terrorist endangerment of the Constitutional order and security”. Among the accused are MPs, artists, members of MOI, of the security services and the Parliamentary security.
With banners “Freedom” and “Freedom for patriots”, “I am Krsto”, a group of protestors in front of the Criminal Court greeted those accused for the “bloody Thursday” in the Parliament, expressing support for the former Director of the Bureau for Public Safety, Mitko Chavkov, five MPs from VMRO-DPMNE, Krsto Mukoski, Sasho Vasileski, Johan Tarchulovski, Ljupco Dimovski and Ljuben Arnaudov, as well as for the leaders of “For a united Macedonia”, who were arriving at the court.
In the midst of significant political events in our society, CIVIL is continuing with the project Action – Integration, dedicated to democratic reforms, citizen participation, green initiatives and European values in Republic of Macedonia. The meetings and public events that are being organized with this project are a unique opportunity for all concerned structures and citizens to actively get involved in this significant initiative.
Following the meetings and workshops in Stip, Veles and Skopje, several events will be held under the slogan “What kind of Macedonia do I want?” in Kumanovo, Gostivar and in settlements and municipalities in those regions. The main public event in Kumanovo will be held in the Municipal hall of the Committee, tomorrow, August 23, starting at 1.00 pm. CIVIL is inviting representatives of the local authorities, NGO’s, political parties, local media and correspondents and all interested citizens to participate in the discussion on current topics and events, on social and environmental justice and on other important topics covered with this project.
There will be discussions on what kind of Macedonia the citizens of Gostivar want, at a public event in the hall of the Council of the Municipality of Gostivar, on Friday, August 24, starting at 12.00 pm. The Mayor of Kumanovo, Maksim Dimitrievski, and the Mayor of Gostivar, Arben Taravari expressed their support for the two events.
