Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani and his Polish counterpart Zbigniew Rau discussed via phone on Tuesday bilateral relations, cooperation within international organizations and North Macedonia’s EU integration process.
Osmani, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release, stressed during the meeting political efforts North Macedonia has put in to return on the road to EU.
“We resolved seemingly insurmountable challenges motivated by the European perspective of our country and people. This process has no alternative. I believe we’ll overcome issues with friends and neighbors and exhibit once again the power of diplomacy and dialogue, which remains the best approach to solving any dispute. As politicians, we owe it to citizens to solve issues, sustain peace and create conditions for progress and better lives for all,” Osmani said.
Participants also discussed at the meeting, the press release added, cooperation within Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), which Poland will chair in 2022. Cooperation aims to promote OSCE values, such as democracy, peace and stability, based on trust, dialogue and transparency, in the context of North Macedonia’s candidature to chair the organization in 2023, which is set to be discussed during the OSCE Ministerial Council session in December.
“Minister Osmani underlined the importance of North Macedonia’s candidature, saying its an expression of its accomplishments at home and the wish to participate in multilateral organizations by implementing OSCE goals, as a future chair of the organization,” the press release read.
