The seventh meeting of the Open Balkans initiative, which began this morning in Tirana, was attended by Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, hosted by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, with an invitation to Kosovo, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. to become part of this initiative.
– Dear Alexander, dear Zoran, dear friends from the region, it is a real pleasure to welcome you today in Tirana. It is my pleasure to tell you that today is a crucial moment in our process, because the agreements that will be signed will make an important step towards our goal; to guarantee complete freedom of movement of people, goods, capital and services. Let me go through every pillar of the Open Balkans by repeating the call for everyone to join, because the Open Balkans is an inclusive initiative and certainly encouraging the other three countries in the region to be part of this effort to move forward for the good of the nation. said Rama.
He added that in the field of freedom of movement of goods, the tripartite agreement on export, animal husbandry and recognition of accreditation certificates and facilitation of export and import of goods, as well as the cooperation agreement in the field of veterinary medicine, food, etc. will be signed.
– Let me return to the fact that every time we have talked about this, through the Berlin Process, it is done by the “Open Balkans”. It may sound technical, but the deal is a milestone this time around. It practically removes the permanent barrier for open farmers. An open Balkans is more of an aspiration than an initiative. It is a step forward that opens the Balkans and prepares it for EU integration, Rama said, among other things.
