NEWS OF THE DAY: Sassoli: It’s not a historical mistake that you did not start negotiations, but rather a slowdown that will soon be overcome
At the European Council there wasn’t a “no” for the process of negotiations to start, rather that this issue will again be put for consideration. We need to explain to the public that it is not a matter of “no”, nor a historical mistake. I prefer to say that it is a historical slowdown, in order
for us to come back to it and for this process of negotiations to start as soon as possible. We have a common future, let’s write it together.
These were the key messages that the President of the European Parliament referred today to the MPs, to top state officials, leaders of religious communities and representatives of diplomatic missions, in his address in the Parliament of North Macedonia.

The role of powder for euro-penetration
“It is not easy being French Ambassador in Skopje these past several weeks. On the one side, conflicts have to be managed on a daily basis and controversial views on EU enlargement coming from centers of power in Paris (for example, those of the Senate, as opposed to the presidential position); on the other hand, it should be done with an ambassador stance of principality, which with the current French Ambassador comes as an irresistible mixture of sympathy and joviality, lightly colored with powdered French pomposity”, writes Saso Ordanoski.

“What Koce didn’t succeed to do, Petre is finishing off. The Skopje square, in the very city center that turned gray during former Mayor Trajanov’s time, as it turns out, is becoming even more gray during Mayor Shilegov’s time. Trucks are lining up in front of the GTC entrance. The long multi-ton trucks are largely dumping all kinds of concrete stuff. There is also some granite, whatever. Both one and the other, gray. Not green, but gray”, writes Zoran Ivanov.
“Political correctness”, a magical phrase of today’s “tailors” of public opinion
Various, “liberal forums” on the Internet, and at universities that consider themselves bastions of tolerance, use phrases with political correctness in their views or disagreements when it comes to (non)tolerance in all aspects, gender, ethnic, religious, social as well as political. Most often, by using politically correct terms, the labelling of a certain term, group or occurrence in society is
actually highlighted. Those who use political correctness go too far in seemingly embracing noble ideals such as inclusion, rights and representation of certain social groups, and at the same time ignoring them because they do not correspond to their notion of those rights and real inclusions, primarily, due to fear of “danger” of losing their own!?!”, writes Diana Tahiri.
