North Macedonia and Greece through friendship are promoting stability across the Western Balkans, concluded Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and the new Greek Ambassador to the country, Roussos Koundouros, at a meeting on Tuesday in Skopje.
The Ambassador relayed the message from Athens for resuming the friendship of the two countries by improving cooperation in areas considered of importance, the government said in a press release.
“Greece has expressed support for our country to make progress in its EU integration process after joining NATO, as well as for technical assistance in the processes considered key for the European perspectives,” stated the press release.
The PM and the Ambassador focused their talks on ways to intensify economic cooperation, where tangible results were recorded, the same as in the energy sector.
“Through economy, the citizens of the two countries are starting to feel the benefits from the Prespa Agreement, which was a historic step and important commitment of the two countries to build good neighborly relations, inclusive and constructive cooperation,” said Zaev.
At the meeting, the importance of cooperation in healthcare, agriculture, education, culture and social protection was also stressed.
Through Ambassador Koundouros, PM Zaev extended an invitation to his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis to visit the Republic of North Macedonia, said the press release.
