Imposing a curfew after 9 pm, won’t change anything. Catering facilities are already closed at that time and group gatherings in public spaces have been banned, Health Minister Venko Filipche said at a news conference on Friday.
Group gatherings at home still pose a risk, although authorities have already warned against them.
“The efficiency of measures rests in large part on people’s awareness on the need to respect measures,” Filipche told reporters.
He reiterated that coronavirus preventive measures have shown results, adding that officials aren’t considering additional restrictions.
“Less new cases have been registered in 2/3 of cities. However, the situation remains critical in Kumanovo, Shtip, Prilep, Bitola and Skopje,” the Minister said.
He stressed that he will meet on Saturday with Prilep officials to discuss requests for implementing more restrictive measures in the city. According to the epidemiological situation in Prilep, however, epidemiologists don’t see the need for additional restrictions there, Filipche noted.
