The measures of the Government Plan for Fighting Corruption, which refer to increasing transparency and accountability of institutions, as one of the key mechanisms for fighting corruption, were the main topic of the meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of fight against corruption and crime, sustainable development and human resources, Ljupco Nikolovski in Brussels with the European Commission Vice-President and Commissioner for Values and Transparency, Vera Jourova.
– North Macedonia is continuously investing huge efforts in Europeanization of the institutions, with the Plan for fighting corruption, we have implemented European standards and values, we are bringing Europe home, said Deputy Prime Minister Nikolovski at the meeting.
As the government press service informed, Deputy Prime Minister Nikolovski presented the measures of the Plan that are being realized, such as the introduction of internal procedures for public procurements by the institutions, preparation of annual anti-corruption programs, fulfilling the GRECO recommendations, the new more applicable Code for Ethical Conduct of members of the government and holders of public office appointed by the government, the decisions for limiting official expenses of officials of catering services for working meetings and for using official vehicles, as well as other measures from the Plan.
– At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that the Government is continuously working on proactive transparency and accountability, which are the basis for the fight against corruption. On behalf of Vice President Jourova, support was expressed for the implementation of the Plan for fighting corruption and was indicated that they are available for using the experiences of EU member states in the area of transparency and the rule of law, is added in the announcement.
