We’re focused on systemic improvement so as to prevent and eliminate corruption and crime and to lay the foundation of a society where order, justice and progress will prevail, Ljupcho Nikolovski has said.
“It’s our duty to be open, accountable and transparency. Our fight is a long one, we are running a marathon, because ethical values have been long neglected,” the Deputy PM in charge of the fight against corruption and crime, sustainable development and human resources said in an event marking the government’s first 100 days in office.
In the past hundred days, he said, government ministers and government-appointed officials signed a code of conduct. “There have been dismissals and all those who’ll violate the code in the future also face dismissal, there will be zero tolerance,” Nikolovski urged.
All institutions and municipalities, he said, have been ordered to reveal documents and public information on their websites. “In order to get support from the budget and through international programs, they have to be transparent and the honorable ones will be rewarded,” Nikolovski said.
Also, communication and coordination has been established between the ministries of justice and the interior with the Financial Police, the Operational-Technical Agency (OTA), the agency managing confiscated assets, the anti-corruption commission and with other bodies in charge of fighting corruption and crime.
“There’s a lot to do during our term. The institutions should demonstrate order, work and discipline,” the Deputy PM said adding that his small team of mainly young people was dedicated to ‘changing things in the society for the better.’
