NEWS OF THE DAY: School year for students starts today in extraordinary circumstances, with challenges and uncertainties
The 2020/2021 school year begins on time for university students and delayed for primary and secondary students with many uncertainties due to the unpredictability of the COVID-19 outbreak. Today, 270 000 primary and secondary students are to start the school year, among which are 19 000 first graders – part will be in school classes, while the greater part will be learning online from home.
Students up to third grade, except for those whose parents have not agreed, will be following classes with physical presence. The other primary school students from higher grades and secondary school students will be communicating with their teachers through the national platform for distance learning, which is still developing, but, as the Ministry of Education and Science and the creators from FINKI inform, the weaknesses are being discovered as it is used and are being removed, and it is expected for it to be fully functional and to withstand the capacity of the users.
STATEMENT OF THE DAY: Nikolova, primary school teacher: The National platform for distance learning will ensure a stable and continuous process of online learning
“I personally think that in the following period the National Platform will ensure a stable and
continuous process of online learning. The platform itself is rich with many activities and
resources that will help teachers create interesting and interactive content for their students. I
sincerely hope that the process of adapting to the National Platform and online teaching will be quick and easy for all stakeholders in the distance learning”, adds Nikolova.
