A new US ambassador to Ukraine was confirmed by the Senate on Wednesday. Career diplomat Bridget Brink was officially confirmed for the role, informs MIA.
The US State Department earlier announced it was reopening its Kyiv embassy, which had been closed due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
US diplomats shut down operations in the Ukrainian capital two weeks before the war broke out in February.
They relocated to Poland and some were temporarily in Lviv in western Ukraine. Brink was previously the US envoy to Slovakia.
Before that she had roles including as an expert in eastern Europe and the Caucasus for the State Department in Washington and as deputy ambassador in Uzbekistan and Georgia.
