CIVIL has started implementation of the project “The Past, Present and Future of Arms Control in North Macedonia”, supported by the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime and the Resilience Fund.

Within the framework of the project, CIVIL will be collecting data on legislative processes and measures, operations for collection of illegal weapons, as well as amnesty processes for persons possessing illegal weapons in the period 2002-2021.

The project anticipates interviews with relevant experts and policy makers in the area of arms control, particularly focusing on the links between arms proliferation and the organized crime. These are just some of the topics included within this exceptionally dynamic project of CIVIL.

In the upcoming period, CIVIL will be in intensive communication with relevant institutions and experts on arms control and the fight against organized crime.

With the project “The past, Present and Future of Arms Control in the Republic of North Macedonia”, CIVIL will also serve as a resource for further research and creation of policies and practices within the areas of arms control and fight against organized crime. Project outputs will be useful material for media and civil society, as well as for the wider public, to acquire relevant information on these issues.
