Two hundred professional soldiers joined North Macedonia’s Army at a ceremony Monday where Defence Minister Radmila Shekerinska delivered an addressing welcoming them into the NATO army.
In in the first half of 2021, she announced, another 250 professional soldiers will be recruited. Soon, 120 army members will be promoted into non-commissioner officers, she said.
“To invest in the Army, it means to invest in human capital. That is why we are promoting a policy of recruiting and engaging new young soldiers. Joining the army, you will understand that it is not only a profession, it is a way of life. The uniform will make you more respected at home and in the community. Wear it proudly,” Minister Shekerinska told the new soldiers.
The army, Shekerinska said, won’t perceive you on the basis of your name, or on the basis of ethnic or religious origin. “In the army, you will follow the principle of ‘one for all, all for one’,” the Minister stressed.
A total of 1,800 candidates underwent tests and checkups before the 200 were selected.
The army in the past three years has recruited 830 people including the 200 soldiers joining today.
