World Environment Day 2024 focuses on restoring land, halting desertification, and building drought resilience under the slogan “Our Earth. Our Future. We are the #GenerationRestoration.”
“We can’t turn back time, but we can grow forests, revive water sources, and restore soils. We are the generation that can make peace with the Earth,” says the official website of the United Nations.
CIVIL joins the observance of World Environment Day through a series of media activities. The organization’s media platform will publish informative and educational content related to environmental protection, the fight against climate change, and support for the green agenda and the circular economy.
Today, in the context of World Environment Day, CIVIL will publish the analysis “Circular Economy in Times of War and Insecurity.” A summary of this analysis was presented at the regional conference of CIVIL and LogEx on May 31, as part of the Western Balkans Circular Economy Week.
CIVIL alerts the domestic and global public that wars and conflicts exacerbate environmental risks. Energy, economic, and social crises directly affect policies and practices related to environmental protection. The new generations are expected to restore the planet, but conditions must be created for them to take on that responsibility. This is the task of current power structures and a generation of policymakers and practitioners who are not doing nearly enough to create those conditions.
