43 additional hospital beds have been put at the disposal of Skopje-based COVID centers for treatment of confirmed and suspected coronavirus patients, of which 23 as part of the new COVID center within the Ophthalmology Clinic and and 20 within that in the ‘8 September’ hospital, the Ministry of Health said in a press release on Friday.
It added that the COVID center within the ‘8 September’ hospital now has the capacity to treat up to 100 patients.
“The COVID center within the Ophthalmology Clinic is part of internal clinics and staffed with infectologists, internists, anaesthesiologists and other personnel. It also has the proper equipment for treatment of patients who require oxygen support,” the press release read.
Moreover, it stressed expectations that the COVID center within the Otolaryngology Clinic will open soon and strengthen hospital admission capacities in the capital.
“The entire healthcare system is coordinated with all public health institutions. Healthcare professional staff is engaged in all institutions. Healthcare workers are exhausted, but they do their best in treating the patients,” Filipche said.
The clinic is ready to treat all patients who need hospitalization and oxygen support, press release reads.
“50 extra hospital beds will be put at the disposal in the COVID center within the Otolaryngology Clinic for treatment of confirmed and suspected coronavirus patients, which will be open in the coming days,” the Ministry of Health said.
