The Dutch government has given North Macedonia the green light to hold the first intergovernmental conference with the EU, Albanian TV channel Ora News reports.
According to the broadcaster, the Dutch government has on the other hand suggested that negotiations with Tirana start at a different time.
“The Dutch government is officially not in favor of the European Union holding the first intergovernmental session with Albania. The government confirms the official start of talks, but according to the Netherlands, Albania still hasn’t met conditions required by the European Council. Establishing the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court and the fight against organized crime and corruption remain preconditions that the Albanian government is yet to meet,” Ora News reports.
The Dutch government’s decision has been delivered to Parliament for confirmation.
