Municipalities (to) listen to the voice of the citizens

To the question of CIVIL posted on the Facebook page – Should your municipality be decorated for the New Year holidays, hundreds of citizens answered and gave their ideas and initiatives. One of the suggestions of a citizen is to place Christmas trees on a square where children can place toys and lanterns, and after the holidays the Christmas trees to remain in the same place or to be transplanted elsewhere. This is a great idea, as children from all ethnic communities will be able to socialize, and at the same time it will be good for the environment.

One week ago (November 11, 2020) CIVIL sent these questions to all municipalities throughout RS. Macedonia – Will you decorate your municipality for the New Year holidays this year? If you do not decorate it, where and for what will you use the funds provided for that purpose?

So far we have received a response from 25 municipalities, from: Arachinovo, Negotino, Brvenica, Kriva Palanka, Radovish, Delchevo, Berovo, Krushevo, Veles, Lozovo, Gradsko, Sopishte, Zhelino, Tearce, Vrapchiste, Lipkovo, Sveti Nikole, Stucheni Petrov, Demir Hisar, Kisela Voda, Kochani, Rosoman, Vevchani, Kavadarci…

Apart from the Municipality of Berovo, who answered that 200,000 denars have been allocated for New Year’s decoration, the other municipalities are determined that the funds provided in the Budget for decorating the city will be used to fight Kovid – 19.

Almost all the mayors who answered us pointed out that they will decorate their municipality modestly with the New Year decorations they have purchased in previous years. The same decorations will be used this year for a better look of the city, which they believe will contribute to at least a little positive feeling of the citizens during the New Year holidays.

The municipalities of Negotino and Kochani have reallocated the funds provided for New Year’s decoration to the hospitals in their cities.

The Municipality of Sveti Nikole will use the funds for New Year’s decoration to provide tablets for students who do not have the opportunity to attend classes online.

The Municipality of Rosoman emphasized that every year most of the planned funds are reallocated for social transfers and social packages for socially disadvantaged families.
