The police announced last night that the reason for the blockade of a part of the center of Skopje was an reported attack on the building of the Macedonian National Theater, after which all cultural facilities in the area were evacuated, Sloboden Pecat informs.
The building was inspected with police dogs, after which it was concluded that the report was false. The play “Don’t Bet on the English”, which was on the theater’s repertoire tonight, has been postponed.
“The Ministry of Interior made the necessary checks and it was determined that the report of an attack was false. Measures are taken to determine the report and to take appropriate measures and sanctions against the person who falsely reported. “We thank the citizens for their patience, and the media for their professional attitude towards the situation,” the statement said.
Police officers are still deployed around the premises, and hundreds of citizens waiting in front of the Philharmonic building were allowed to enter the building, where the announced concert will take place.
