MoH: 40 patients hospitalized in Skopje COVID centers in past 24 hours

The Ministry of Health said Thursday that in the past 24 hours, 40 confirmed coronavirus patients have been admitted in the COVID centers in Skopje due to virus complications.

A total of 495 confirmed and suspected COVID-19 patients are being treated at the infectious disease wards in the hospitals in the capital.

In the past 24 hours, a total of 19 patients have been admitted at the internal clinics, of which two at the Nephrology Clinic, two at the COVID center in the Neurology Clinic, six at the Institute for Lung Diseases and Tuberculosis, three at the Dermatovenerology Clinic, two at the Ophthalmology Clinic, three at the Otorhinolaryngology Clinic and one at the Gastroenterohepatology Clinic.

Moreover, 8 patients were admitted at the COVID center within the Skopje City General Hospital ‘8 September’ and 13 at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases, the press release reads.

In the past 24 hours, 32 recovered coronavirus patients were discharged from hospitals.

Twenty-eight patients are currently being treated at the COVID center within the Dermatology Clinic, 30 at the Neurology Clinic, another 53 at the Institute for Lung Diseases and Tuberculosis, 21 at the Nephrology Clinic, 17 patients at the Ophthalmology Clinic, 28 at the Otorhinolaryngology Clinic and 24 at the Gastroenterohepatology Clinic.

There are 110 patients at the “8 September” hospital, 146 patients at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases and 38 patients at the Institute of Respiratory Diseases in Children-Kozle.

A total of 495 confirmed and suspected COVID-19 patients are being treated at the infectious disease wards in the hospitals in the capital. Many of them are on oxygen support.

“Despite the surge in hospitalizations on Wednesday, there were about 20 hospital beds available until 8 am on Thursday, and more are expected to become available during the day at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases and the ‘8 September’ hospital as recovered patients are discharged,” reads the press release.
