As part of recent early education reform efforts, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy has started a series of online workshops on children’s social and emotional development, learning through play, and learning based on problem-solving. The training is aimed at improving the skills of a few select preschool teachers who will then pass on their knowledge to others, according to the MLSP.
The workshops are based on best practices and latest research in children’s development, the MLSP notes.
Dr. Rebekah Granger-Ellis — one of the world’s leading experts in children’s psychosocial development, neuroeducation program developer, public speaker, neurowellness trainer, and award-winning researcher merging neuro- and cognitive science — is involved in the preschool teacher training.
Six workshops are planned through early 2021.
They are part of the World Bank-supported Social Services Improvement Project carried out by the MLSP as part of its comprehensive reform of the country’s social services and preschool education system.
