The Ministry of Health responds to the statement of the Confederation of Trade Unions in which it is claimed that the measures proposed by the Commission on Infectious Diseases are “forced vaccination”.
“Employees who are covered by the new measures have the choice to submit a negative test once a week if they decide not to be vaccinated, and all those who have health problems due to which they can not be vaccinated are not forced to do so. “The same measures we are proposing have already been introduced in many countries in Europe and the region, such as Slovenia, Croatia and Greece, where they have been in force for a long time.”
“In conditions when a new strong Covid wave is threatening, it is the duty of the ministry and the Commission to propose appropriate measures that will surely give results both in reducing the spread of the virus and in raising the percentage of immunized population. Protests or other forms of expression of dissatisfaction with the measures are a democratic right, but also contrary to the health recommendations coming from the world health institutions. We call for the responsibility of all citizens and stakeholders in society in order to jointly overcome all challenges with the pandemic that, unfortunately, still haunts the world. “We seek support for measures that are in the interest of public health and protection of the health system that suffers enormous pressure, primarily from people who have not been vaccinated and who need hospital treatment.” is added in the statement of the health authorities.
