Health Minister Venko FIlipche met Monday with directors of clinics within the “Mother Teresa” medical complex, discussing the current epidemiological situation related to the number of cases and patients seeking hospitalization versus number of available beds and clinic capacities, as well as the possibility of opening new COVID-centers of necessary.
“Besides the Clinic for Infectious Diseases and the adjacent modular hospital and the Institute for Pulmonary Diseases, there are four other COVID-centers within the other clinics, while two more are to open by the end of the week,” said Minister Filipche.
According to him, more patients are expected to be discharged in the coming period, but the health system must be prepared for any scenario.
“The situation is serious and the entire medical staff is doing everything in its power to provide care for all patents. We must remain calm and give our maximum as doctors and institutions,” said Filipche.
Proposals for the opening of additional capacities at all clinics are to be reviewed in the coming days, the Ministry of Health said in a press release.
