Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi and National Energy Resources director Bajram Rexhepi will attend Friday the eighth ministerial meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council taking place in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku.
Minister Bekteshi is set to address the meeting’s plenary session, which includes Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, European Commissioners for Energy Kadri Simson, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi, as well as high officials from the United States, United Kingdom, Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Italy, Hungary, Montenegro, Serbia, Greece, Romania, Georgia, Turkey and Turkmenistan.
The 3,500km-long Southern Gas Corridor, a project worth US$40 billion, starts from Baku leading up to southern Italy through Georgia, Turkey, Greece and Albania. The main supply source is the Shah Deniz gas field located in the Caspian Sea.
