Maricic for UB: No controversial name will be on the pardon lists

Dec 20, 2021 | JUSTICE, NEWSROOM

In the last 24 hours, there has been confusion over the pardon lists that the Ministry of Justice sends to President Stevo Pendarovski, Sloboden Pecat writes.

– The Minister of Justice does not grant any pardons. These are specific New Year pardons and the lists for partial reduction of the sentence are made by the prison directors and are forwarded for consideration. I think that some of the disputed names will not even be on the lists. So, the draft lists are from the prisons and not from the Ministry of Justice. Those lists go through four filters, says Justice Minister Bojan Maricic for Utrinski briefing.

There are some controversial names on the list that are linked to a major crime, and Deputy Nuhiu’s reaction was strong.

– This procedure is not public and is not made public. It is ungrateful to publish names at an early stage because these are people who are convicted and have their own hopes. We will make sure that no disputed names are found on the lists.
