In an address at the formal event on the occasion of 15 years of the establishment of the Academy of Judges and Public Prosecutors, Minister of Justice Bojan Maricic reflected on the importance and significance of the Academy, as well as on the efforts of the Ministry of Justice and the Government for its development and promotion through the reform of the judicial system, announced the Ministry of Justice.
“Here, the Academy plays the most important role. It is a ‘temple of education in the judicial system’, the source of quality and professional judges and public prosecutors and the only guarantee that the best cadre will enter the judiciary. Though it can also be said that it is the starting point for the entire judicial system with a significant role of a guardian of the dignity and credibility of judges and public prosecutors”, said Minister Maricic in his address.
He stressed that the amendments to the Law on the Academy of Judges and Public Prosecutors are in the direction of fulfilling the commitment and engagement of the Government and the Ministry of Justice in the process of creating an independent, impartial and efficient judicial system that meets European standards.
“The Academy further remains the only point for entry in the judiciary and the prosecutor’s office, where judges and public prosecutors continuously receive professional development of theoretical and practical knowledge according to programs prepared in advance, designed according to the needs of the target groups.
This is the formula that brings quality in the judicial system and produces cadres of judges and prosecutors who in addition to the domestic legislation also have knowledge of and apply the European Convention on Human Rights and Freedoms, the EU legislation and other international standards, pointed out Maricic, who congratulated on the work of the Agency so far and wished for it to continue to work in a dedicated manner for to the quality of future generations of judges and public prosecutors, protection of the profession, the citizens and also for the progress of the country, which, as the Minister indicated, is committed to the European agenda.
The Academy awarded Maricic a Certificate of Appreciation for his engagement and contribution as Minister of Justice in the development of the Academy, announced the Ministry of Justice.
