The “Public Room” case will be the catalyst of faster legislative changes while raising the public awareness to a higher level, says Minister of Justice Bojan Marichikj.
“We are all deeply disturbed from the ‘Public Room’ case that has shaken our society. As a person first and foremost, I extend my support to the victims that have gone through and are still going through a difficult period. I encourage them to be vocal and to count on us in the joint fight against this evil,” Minister Marichikj says in a Facebook post.
He adds that the Ministry of Justice has drafted the changes to the Criminal Code that will ensure significantly larger protection for victims, such as those of ‘Public Room’.
“The amendments comply with the Istanbul Convention, encompassing a broad range of cases when women are victims are sexual, psychological and physical violence. No one should be quiet about violence! Let’s not be afraid, let’s be vocal and fight together against violators,” says Marichikj.
