Today’s hearing for the case “Target and Fortress” was postponed, because at 1.00 pm a public session is scheduled in the the Court of Appeals for deciding on the detention of ex-director of UBK, Saso Mijalkov.
At today’s hearing, Mijalkov and the other accused, were supposed to question witness Zvonko Kostovski, who together with Gjorgi Lazaevski discovered the affair with the massive illegal wiretapping.
TV-duel
Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and the leader of the opposition VMRO-DPMNE, Hristijan Mickoski, tonight starting at 6.30 pm will be debating in Kanal 5’s TV show “Only truth”.
In the announcement of Kanal 5 they say that the duel will last 100 minutes, limiting the replies to the questions to two minutes, and the interlocutors will have the possibility to exchange replicas and counter-replicas.
Hate speech
A disciplinary measure will be initiated against professional soldier Tatjana Lazarovska, and the severest punishment will be proposed, that is, termination of her engagement in the Army of the Republic of Macedonia, after she shared hate speech through a status on her Facebook profile with a call for the attacker from New Zealand, who killed 50 people, to be given a Noble Prize. From the ARM they have informed already that Lazarovska is employed in the ARM and that according to the legal regulations and competencies a procedure has been initiated for determining responsibility and for taking appropriate disciplinary measures.

New polemics in regards to the Public and Special Prosecutor’s Office. VMRO-DPMNE declared victory in the struggle for an independent judiciary and claims that the government has accepted their three principles, after the Ministry of Justice yesterday released an announcement and interpreted the same today. The Cabinet of Renata Deskoska in yesterday’s announcement claims that the principles have already been implemented, however, also left room for developing and fully implementing them.
“The law that is in parliamentary procedure implements all international standards that refer to the area of public prosecution and mean protection of human rights, which strengthen the independency, neutrality, accountability and efficiency in combatting crime by the prosecution. The determination for protecting these principles is not just a determination of the Ministry of Justice, but also of the Republic of North Macedonia, which stems from our membership in the Council of Europe and the aspiration for membership in the European Union. The preparedness for developing, but also for fully implementing these principles, which are also listed in VMRO-DPMNE’s letter, is not only an obligation of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, but should also be an obligation and effort of all political parties whose orientation is European integration”, is said in the announcement.
Social protection
On the second day of the public debate of the Commission for Labor and Social Policy in terms of the Draft Law on Social Protection, representatives of “Inkluziva”, association for promotion and development of an inclusive society, submitted a proposal for amending it, which findings resulted in the document.
“Situation and proposed measures for additional health and social protection for people with disabilities and their families”. This document for public policies is produced within the project: “Citizens in Parliament: Legislative initiatives for human rights”, financed by the European Union and co-financed by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy.
In the research a total of 22 associations were included that represent the rights of people with disabilities and their families, 139 people with disabilities, 116 parents of children with disabilities, 9 experts in the field, 2 representatives from the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, 2 representatives of the Health Insurance Fund, 1 representative feom the Ministry of Health, 2 representatives from the Institute of Special Education and rehabilitation and 8 representatives from the Commission for protection against discrimination.
CIVIL – activities
“With arguments and truth against hate speech” is an event organized by CIVIL – Center for Freedom, which has the goal of revealing hate speech and its sanctioning. The event will be held on Thursday, March 28, at Hotel City Park, starting at 12.30 pm.
The Islamic Religious Community regretful, Zaev and Mickoski will nevertheless debate. CIVIL’s monitoring – in detail in the daily CIVIL chronicle.
