NEWS OF THE DAY: Government announces public calls for organizing flights for Macedonian citizens currently staying abroad, who want to return to the country
The Government today announced a public call for organizing flights for Macedonian citizens who are abroad and want to return to the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia, upon a previously obtained list of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of passengers who have applied, Macedonian citizens currently staying abroad.
The following destinations have been determined for charter flights:
– Malta – Skopje (148 passengers)
– Zagreb – Skopje (226 passengers)
The deadline for organizing flights should be until 27.03.2020 (Friday) 12.00 noon.
Any airline company or travel agency has the right to participate that will organize charter flights from the cities in Europe to the Republic of North Macedonia.
The public call will last 12 hours from the moment of its publication on the website of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, namely, the offers need to be submitted no later than 25.03.2020 until 10.00 pm.
The Government also announced a public call for organizing flights for citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia abroad who want to return to the country from Berlin, Bonn and Munich.
The following destinations have been determined for charter flights:
– Berlin – Skopje (377 passengers)
– Bonn – Skopje (355 passengers)
– Munich – Skopje (183 passengers).
The deadline for organizing flights should be until 27.03.2020 (Friday) 12.00 noon.
Offers need to be submitted electronically, certified, signed by a responsible person and in a scanned form sent to the following email:[email protected].
The deadline for submitting offers is 26.03.2020 until 8.00 am.
Persons who will apply need to sign an agreement when entering the plane between them and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia in which they will guarantee that they will pay the amount determined for the air ticket on the account of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, and will also fill out a Statement that they agree upon arriving to be placed in state quarantine facilities for 14 days.
Persons will be taken from the Skopje International Airport, with organized transportation to the place determined for state quarantine.
Persons travelling have a period of 15 days from their arrival to pay the amount of the air ticket according to the agreement made.

“In difficult times for our people, for the Balkans, and for the whole world, we have received joyous and long-awaited news from the EU – a decision has been made for North Macedonia to open negotiation for EU membership. The historic mistake has been fixed, there are no obstacles or conditions. The EC is to make the preparations, while the first intergovernmental conference will be held as soon as possible”, stated SDSM President Zoran Zaev at today’s press conference.
“Without the Prespa Agreement and the Bulgaria Friendship Treaty and constitutional changes, without the Law on the Public Prosecutor’s Office, this success would have not been possible. It is the courageous political decisions that have opened the doors of the waiting room in which were in the past 15 years. Many of the decisions were adopted with a two-thirds majority of the Parliament. A two-thirds majority of MPs who have demonstrated historic responsibility on behalf of their people and a secure future that is ahead of us”, said Zaev.

In the past 24 hours, 29 new cases of coronavirus have been registered in the country and one patient has died, as follows by cities: Skopje (20), Kumanovo (3), Veles (3), Prilep (2) and Debar (1). This brings the total number of diagnosed COVID-19 patients until 12.00 pm to 177 persons.

The Government at last night’s 27th session adopted a decree with legal force to stop the application of the Law on Enforcement, thus stopping the application of the Law on Enforcement, enforcement until June 30, 2020.

A public prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office Skopje has submitted to the Basic Criminal Court Skopje a proposal for a criminal order against a person for “not acting according to health regulations during an epidemic” under Article 206 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

The Directorate for Execution of Sanctions, in accordance to the government recommendations of March 10 this year, has banned contacts of convicted and detained persons with the outside world and is taking measures for maintaining a high level of hygiene, disinfection and all available measures for protection” informs the Directorate for Execution of Sanctions.

According to statistics of the Ministry of Interior, in the past 24 hours on the territory of the country, on the grounds of disregarding the ban on movement in the period between 9.00 pm and 5.00 am, the police have reported 103 persons disregarding this measure, of which 63 have been detained in a police station, 31 have been warned and at the same time nine reports have been made at the scene.

The Economic Chamber of Macedonia has formed a Crisis Headquarters that will function during the state of emergency in the country that has been introduced due to coronavirus.

Seventy –four lawyers today signed a letter and has been sent to the Judicial Council, the Supreme Court and to the Prime Minister and competent ministers and all embassies in the country.
According to the lawyers, the Criminal Court – Skopje is directly violating the measures for preventing the spread of coronavirus, with the holding of hearings with more than five persons. This, as it is stated, also threatens the health of the defendants in the cases.

According to the decision of the Judicial Council and the Ministry of Justice, no more than ten trials for urgent and cases that cannot be delayed are directed on a daily basis in a building with 25 courtrooms distributed on seven floors, informs the Basic Criminal Court Skopje.
The Court appeals to part of the lawyers not to manipulate the public in terms of the conditions for conducting the court hearings and complying to the measures of the World Health Organization and the Government of the RNM regarding the prevention of the spread of COVID-19.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Dimitrov, had a telephone conversation with High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission Josep Borrell, in light of the positive decision of the General Affairs Council for opening EU negotiations with North Macedonia.
As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated, both expressed great satisfaction over the decision of the EU Ministers to open accession negotiation for North Macedonia and Albania, especially in such difficult circumstances.
