Stevco Jakimovski arrested
Former Mayor of the Municipality of Karpos, Stevco Jakimovski, has been arrested. He and two associates of his from the Municipality of Karpos this morning were arrested on suspicion of abuse of power. Jakimovski’s passport was taken away in August, and since October he has been under the investigation of the SPO in the case “Harmony”.
“We are not afraid. We will win”, he said in front of the court, but did not indicate to who and exactly to what he was referring to.
Zaev – Mogherini: We are working hard to deliver results
Prime Minister Zoran Zaev started his working visit in Brussels today with a meeting with the Vice President of the European Commission and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy, Federica Mogherini.
Mogherini encouraged the Government.to implement the remaining measures until June this year, for completing the reforms anticipated with the conclusions of the European Council from June 2018.
Participants at today’s meeting in Brussels agreed that a successful implementation of fair, democratic and free presidential elections is crucial and of priority for the Government.
Russia recognizes the Republic of North Macedonia
Prime Minister Zoran Zaev last night met with Russian Ambassador Sergej Bazdnikin, who handed him a copy of the note of the the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, according to which, based on the decision of President Vladimir Putin, this country recognizes the new name of our country – the Republic of North Macedonia.
The Government and the opposition did not agree on the SPO
The Special Public Prosecutor’s Office continues to be an obstacle between the government and the opposition. Working groups of VMRO-DPMNE and SDSM did not find a mutual language in regards to Katica Janeva’s prosecution. The opposition demands for the SPO to lose its autonomy and to be part of the prosecution for organized crime.
Vans from the Ministry of Agriculture will be converted to ambulance vehicles
The emergency medical services by the end of the month will receive 12 new ambulance vehicles, which the Ministry of Health procured last year. Eight vehicles that the Ministry of Agriculture has had for several years, but has not used until now, will be given to the Ministry of Health. They will convert them and use them as ambulance vehicles.
“They can be converted and serve as ambulance vehicles, they just need to be re-equipped. The Ministry of Agriculture is not using these vehicles and we will take them over by a decision of the Government. Even though these vehicles are several years old, they have practically not been used at all and are suitable for ambulance vehicles. This means that we will upgrade the entire system of the Emergency service of the state. They had been intended for something else, and we will receive them for reassigning”, said Minister of Health, Venko Filipce.
Citizens expect a better life from politicians
The Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Mila Carovska, at today’s awarding ceremony of the network “Everyone satisfied”, stated that she expects for the MPs to adopt the laws soon, which enable reforms in the social sphere. These reforms should ensure a better quality of life, especially for the vulnerable categories.
“The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, through the Government passed the set of reform laws to which I am extremely proud. They are in parliamentary procedure. I expect for Parliament to vote on them soon in the interest of the citizens and the poor, because these citizens expect a better quality of life from the MPs they voted for just two years ago”, she added.
