The majority of members of Alternativa are for joining the Government, says the party for „Sloboden Pecat“. High officials say they will not be looking for a needle in a haystack to reject the offer, but rather accepting their program commitments. The Central Presidency of Alternativa is to decide tomorrow night whether talks will continue with Prime Minister Zoran Zaev for increasing the majority in Parliament or if they will remain in opposition. SDSM, on the other hand, at sessions of the Central and Executive Board, according to announcements, tomorrow will debate on Zaev’s resignation from the position of party leader and prime minister, with which the procedure for election of a new party leader will begin.

For Alternative, the program commitments of the party to be part of the government program are key, but also obtaining ministerial and directorial positions in order to realize their demands. For Alternativa it is not important whether there will be a new Prime Minister-designate, rather realization of their program, but add that if there is a new government, that would mean new negotiations for slicing the government pie. They have requested from Zoran Zaev same treatment as towards DUI.

According to Alternativa officials, Gashi at the meeting with Zaev put 7 to 8 demands on the table that are important for the party as a condition for it to be part of the government. The priorities of Alternativa are for there to be no deviation from the European integration process, justice, i.e., retrials for, according to them, several politically mounted cases, for which there should also be foreign expertise. Among the demands are also development of the Lipkovo Region, where, according to Alternativa, the situation has not improved after the conflict in 2001. They are also interested in social policy, namely, the provision of funds and assistance for a third child.

“This requires changes in the legal procedure as well, linked to enforcement agents, but also regulation of the area related to casinos, that is, restrictions – where and how many betting shops there should be”, says Alternativa.

The leader of the party, Afrim Gashi, supposedly has also requested from Zaev to have deadlines set for implementation of the projects. For Alternativa it is also important for the government to push the mandate to the end.

As we learn, Alternativa will be offered two ministerial positions from among the ministries of education, health, labor and social policy, culture or agriculture. Alternativa demands guarantees also for deputy ministers, but also more directorial positions.
