Everything could have been better. Literally everything. The first mistake from the start of the resistance against the little dictator and his Family was to sit down with them at the negotiating table. It was something that the international community also demanded. Once, asked by a certain diplomat, why I criticized Johannes Hahn so much at the beginning of that difficult and murky process, my long answer contained the question: Would Gruevski have been dismissed, even put behind bars or in house arrest, if the wiretapped conversations had come out in some of the EU member countries?
The answer was yes. And then numerous such situations followed. We on the streets, and Gruevski in a comfortable armchair. Step by step, he lost the inclination and protection of the foreign diplomats, while his demise became inevitable.
The SPO has finished a masterful work until now, and is still strongly fighting for the criminals to face the full force of justice. However, how much of that is enough for us to arrive to a state of freedom, justice and equality, how much of that means a real transformation into a democratic society – can be seen everywhere, every person who is not polluted with corruption and manipulations of epic proportions can feel it.
In this critical period, when NATO membership and EU integration are being served to us on a plate, thanks to the courageous and wise decisions of Zoran Zaev and Tsipras, we are walking a tightrope between the forces of the past that we are living NOW, and the future that we can experience, once again – NOW.
The actions of Mickoski and the clique that appointed him and has been bossing him for a long time are not a usual political calculation, but rather a classical conspiracy against the interests of the state.
The hysterical nationalism, fascism and hatred that they have been pouring for years, are just one dimension. Society has been dealing with it somehow, certainly, with many victims. And so can the institutions when they will decide to start earning for their bread from public money. But the most dangerous thing is joining the secret services that don’t want anything good for the Balkans. It is an obvious systematic, strategic undermining of the foundations of democracy and the country’s progress.
Regardless of whether someone will vote FOR or AGAINST, or will decide to abstain from voting, whether in sign of boycotting or because they can’t or don’t want to understand the importance of every individual in society, the institutions are the ones who have a responsibility (!) to protect the legality. VMRO-DPMNE and I Boycott are using unlawful actions, regulated (punishable) by the Criminal Code. It is not our obligation to deal with these types of conspiracies, but rather the institutions’ obligation. I will not list them, they are on our backs constantly – both the conspirators and the lazy (mildly said) institutions.
All the chances that Mickoski received during the leaders’ meetings (I will say again, unsuccessful, unnecessary and undeserved) and his rejection of all offers, clearly point to the destructive dimension of this political party. There is nothing more so undignified as the disgraceful role that Mickoski and his assistant with the two heavy bags in their hands undertook, and that was the AMNESTY they demanded and that’s it, nothing more.
Some of the offers are surprising, like the one for VMRO-DPMNE’s participation in the government, but they even rejected that one too! With the fierce nationalism with which they appear in the public, they are entering a dangerous political self-isolation, both at the internal and external level. It is unclear how they imagine their political future as eventual winners at parliamentary elections. It is unclear how they plan on articulating the ever louder interparty demand for democratization and modernization. They have probably given up also the benefits that membership in international political structures bring. In one word – a chaotic collapse, agony. That is why they are throwing so much poison around them. Poison for all the money (both Rubles and Denars)!
The referendum will succeed, also with the help of the patriots of this party, which is still kidnapped by the family. But, the citizens will have the main word, regardless of their political or ethnic affiliation.
In addition to the success of the referendum, we must also think about the day after. To roll up our sleeves and to repair the damage done by figures that use hatred and divisions in order to save themselves and the money they have stolen. And to shake the government that is not fulfilling its promises, but can.
And what can you say about Mickoski? He has said and shown everything.
