Eran Kurtish, Director of the Agency for Exercising the Rights of Communities, at the CIVIL panel discussion on “Equality, Non-Discrimination and Multiculturalism in North Macedonia: Situations, Challenges and Perspectives” referred to the improvement of the smaller communities in all spheres.
I am relatively new to the agency, more precisely 5 months. I inherited an agency from my predecessors with open doors that cooperate with NGOs and other institutions from the most important 5 branches.
In this regard, we can say that all the policies created regarding the smaller communities are in contact with all communities. We have excellent cooperation with the Ministry of Culture. In the last two years we see that there is an improvement in those areas.
We represent the communities mentioned in the preamble of the Republic of NorthMacedonia, which are Turkish Roma, Serbs, Bosniaks, Vlachs and 20 other communities that stand as others in the preamble.
The numbers are improving every year but unfortunately according to the Framework Agreement we have to work on this case and monitor the situation daily.
We more often visit rural areas where people from smaller communities live and follow how they live there.
