Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba at Monday’s press briefing that was also broadcast by Reuters, replied to a question of CIVIL Media – What can the international community and NATO do, that they are not doing, in order to provide help to Ukraine in the fight against the Russian aggression and brutal attack against civilians?
Kuleba pointed out that the best thing that the NATO alliance and NATO states can do is to provide Ukraine with fighter jets.
“Weapons and sanctions. This is what the international community can do. Weapons for Ukraine, sanctions for Russia. We are very open – we need significant strengthening of our air force. The best thing that the NATO alliance and NATO states can do is to provide Ukraine with fighter jets that will allow us to balance the situation in the skies. Because we mostly suffer from the bombardment on our cities from the sky. This is the best and most needed support”, says Kuleba.
The Ukrainian Minister calls on all countries who have weapons produced during the USSR period in their warehouses, to give them to Ukraine.
“Secondly, we mostly use weapons that come from the Soviet period. It would be extremely important if all countries that have weapons produced during the Soviet period in their warehouses, to give them to us in order for us to strengthen our defensive capability”, stressed the Ukrainian Minister.
He called for financial sanctions, quickly cutting off Russia from SWIFT, stopping cargo with Russia and a complete ban on oil and gas.
“When we are at sanctions, quickly excluding Russia from SWIFT, including all Russian banks, they must be cut off from SWIFT, stopping cargo with Russia at airports, introducing complete ban on oil and gas. There are other things that can be done, especially imposing financial sanctions on Russia. And the last most important element, and we are doing this, but we also expect our partners to work with third countries that can become a sanctuary for Russian money and a channel for avoiding the sanctions. These get-outs need to be closed and have no possibility to “erase the pain they are suffering”, replied the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to the question of Frontline, at the press briefing.
