Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said Monday the minimum wage would increase but through an economic-social dialogue among all stakeholders and in consultation with unions and employers.
“There are meetings on the matter as we speak. This is an issue that is resolved through an economic-social dialogue. The SDSM-led government increased the minimum wage from Mden 9,000 (EUR 146) to the current Mden 15,000 (EUR 243). Therefore, the commitment for its further increase is a commitment of the incumbent authorities,” PM Kovachevski told reporters in Prilep.
He said the positions of the unions, employers and chambers should also be considered, as was the case before. “Once we do this methodology together with all parties concerned and through the economic-social dialogue, we will come to a final solution and present it to the citizens,” said Kovachevski.
He added that a similar process and dialogue led to the law of designating Sunday as a rest day.
