As part of his visit to the United Arab Emirates, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski met with the Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding– ADQ, Mohamed Hasan Al-Suwaidi and other representatives of the holding’s management on Wednesday. PM Kovachevski, together with Minister of Finance Fatmir Besimi, Minister of Transport and Connections Blagoj Bochvarski and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Ljupcho Nikolovski, presented financing and investment opportunities in several sectors, transmits news agency MIA.
“The aim is to strengthen the economic bonds between the two countries and to raise significant interest for investments in the target sectors, including renewable sources of energy, infrastructure, tourism, agriculture and health. The establishment of a direct Skopje – Abu Dhabi route was also discussed at the meeting with the aim of deepening economic cooperation,” said the Government in a press release.
The government delegation also underscored the importance of investments amidst the biggest energy crisis and military turmoil, in order to stimulate the economy. Both sides concluded that a large potential exists for cooperation between the two countries and for Emirati investments in the country with a special focus on agriculture and food processing.
PM Kovachevski stated at the meeting that an agreement on mutual protection of investments between the Governments of North Macedonia and the United Arab Emirates was signed in 2021, which, he said, is very valuable in encouraging new investments from the UAE.
The government delegation presented projects from various areas which attracted the attention of the fund’s management. Both sides affirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation and investment opportunities in various sectors with the aim of contributing to greater economic cooperation and trade between the two countries.
